S/B 731, likely correct given the correct body number.
Bummer on the condition, but at least we know. I'd say $40k'ish is all the money on that one - anything more and its bec/ somebody just has to have it.... hmmmm.......

Im sure whoever is the high bid and did not look at the car would be very very dissapointed. In fact withdrawing from the bid would be a likely scenario.....
Depends on what you want to do with the car - i reconfirmed with the bank - there is no warranty book or protecto - unless the previous owner has it stuffed away somewhere. And considering the fact its been apart completely - the matching VIN's is a large risk as well. I would put the car in the mid 30's max...with alot of work and $$ if you want to restore the car back to the original...if not a race car would be a better option.

Call me crazy but I'd bet it tops $50,000. When no driveline 69 Z/28s are bringing 25-30 grand and they built over 20,000 of them...a 1 of 176 Yenko/COPO Nova with the original Yenko window sticker is a 50K car in my eyes. Sure it's got some crude performace mods and missing original parts but I don't know of too many legit original COPO cars that don't. Also, being the fact that the bank selling it has made it clear that the auction will run until close and sell to the high bidder...I bet there are more than a few folks losing sleep and pondering finances during the next 4+ days.
Can't say I can remember when the last time one this nice was up for grabs to anyone willing to pony up the biggest stack. Speculative value aside...did anyone notice the Yenko crest appears to have been on the driver's side of the decklid originally...looks like maybe the original Nova script was left in it's original location on the right? Wish I had the cocconuts... |

The $40,000.00 bid has been pulled. It's back down to $30,300.00 as of this posting. Maybe the link to "No Spin" site saved someone from making a co$tly error.

Erik I totally agree with you. If anything, I think the tone of this thread has made people nervous and might even attach a negative "stigma" to this car. Providing that the car is not a rebody, and the hidden vins are there, 50K+ is absolutely not a stretch for this car. When was the last time a real project Deuce that is on the inventory sheets, has the original window sticker, vintage pics, and is legitimately open to the highest bidder been available? Who cares if it needs a lot to make it right. A LOT of supercars have ben found in worse condition than this and are now concors cars.
Erik, the drivers side deck lid thing looked like a Mancuso dealer decal perhaps? At least that's what I thought at first.

Doesn't look too bad to me either...in fact, it looks like a super resto candidate I'd love to own. So it doesn't have a protecto plate, who cares? How many other Deuces do? Less than a handful I bet. It's got the original window sticker, old pics, is on the sheets, has a good body, and even though the motor/trans/rear aren't original it's still a complete and pretty dang solid car.
Sure it would be great to have the "born-with" driveline and paint nice enough to go out and wax on tomorrow afternoon, but if you want one, you take what you get, and this certainly doesn't look like a bad car in the grand scheme of things. I also totally dig the fact that it's a Gobi Beige 4 speed that's essentially been an "unknown" car for years too. How often do you ever see a beige Deuce? Marlin's is about the only one I know of that's fully restored and out in the public eye. Say what you will, but I think it's a good looking color, and a rare one at that. As the old saying goes... show me the next one. I don't know what it'll do in the long run, but I think there are alot of cars a lot less cool and a lot less rare than this one that sell for way more than where this one's at right now.

You know, the more I think about this the happier I am that someone is going to get a fair shot at a Deuce. For over a decade now there has been WAY to many back room deals on ALL sides on who is "allowed' to get what car. You want this car, pony up. It's anyone's game.

The body restoration on this car will be inexpensive if the doors and quarters and trunk area need no replacement. If all you need to do, is replace front fenders and pass compartment floor. The car would be in the paint shop quickly. The mechanical restoration would cost more than paint and body. Remember the last duece project on ebay? Total rust bucket out east. He wanted $25k or more.

Back up to $40K. Did anyone get the full story on how the bank ended up with it? Was it a case of someone buying it on credit with the expectation of restoring it?

I think the cars with non-original drivetrains (motor, trans, rears) should be called mechanical rebodies. It is great to preserve the vin number and buy in at a price thats affordable with a color thats seldom seen, but at the end of the day all you have is a vin number. In my opinion (and I'm others will disagree) the market becomes very nervous about investing when you're buying a car that is not original. A sponsor here has been trying to sell a rebodied Yenko Camaro for at least a yr, another member has been trying to sell a restamped motor '69 COPO for more than a yr, Reggie Jackson's green ZL1 damn near sold for $150k at BJ 2 yrs back... I could keep going and going.
This is a great car, one with history, but where is its place in this dismal economy?
