One of the reasons I bought a house in Pinal County was to avoid the emissions test....and so now they're dropping it in Maricopa County? Oh well

Hi Bill,

Still holding my breath for the emmissions test to go away. It is stupid to test a car now nearly 40 years old. I know the legislation was postponed a couple of times, so I hope it happens.
It will be nice (in the future), NOT have to take my 67 L-35 Camaro through emmissions. What sucks, is that MY registration is due in March...so I will have to have it certified at least for this year. When it had a Holly on it, you could lean it down to practically no fuel, and it easily passed the tests. When I put the car back to stock, the Q-jet, (even rebuilt) makes this emmissions test an "event" every year. Last year, I leaned the carb, but still failed the first attempt. I then put in new plugs, changed the oil, new PCV, and used a fuel additive product call Gauranteed to Pass. I also took it out of the garage and drove it, including a trip to the Pavillions. All the efforts got it to pass. Yeah! The year before, I failed like 3 times. You have kids that don't know how to drive these old cars. They dump the clutch, load the car with fuel, and you fail. Duhh. I NOW request the manager of the facility to test the car. The way it is driven DOES effect the test results. One caution if you fail: The guys at the testing stations will tell you that IF you continue to fail, the car can get an exemption. The problem is, that once you get an exemption, the car can never be exempted again. So, next time, the car would be required to pass, or no registration. Lets HOPE the legislation take effect in May!

Hey,
Get it right. I WAS on the island last summer. Now I am in THE Bronx. Need I say more?
I should be back home mid Feb. - Just in time to take the car through emmissions.

Bill, that is just HARDCORE! Buying a home in Pinal Co. to avoid emissions testing. I love it. That says alot about a man's committment to this hobby when he arranges his living conditions around to support his addiction. Will gladly buy you a beverage of your choice this January (I'll be at R & S and the Pavillions on Saturday 1/20) to take the sting out of the emissions law changes.

I can't believe you have to take the sniff test on 20 year old cars !! And one county has the test and the next dosent? Cant you rent a PO Box and register the car where ever the laws make the most sense? Lots of NYC (da Bronx)residents register the cars out here (Lawn Guy Land) because they save thousands on insurance fees !! I pay $10 and they hand me an inspection sticker for my 65. Thats the way it should be, no?
