Dennis, Those are the original valve covers and were also done by Jerry Macneish. Correction to previous thread: Schonye tracked down the carb and distributor, not me ![]() ![]() ![]() [/ QUOTE ] The distributor came from Jeff Dotterer. I believe Earl went down the road, and got the original carb back from his neighbor.(Earl correct me if I'm wrong.) The original dist went in an old chevy truck, if I remember the story correctly. We did send the carb to McNeish. I hate to bring this subject up since there seems to be a pretty good battle going on about it, but on the lift bracket issue, I've seen 2 maybe 3 original deuces that had the double leg frt bracket while mine has the single. None were painted and seemed to be natural. I do wonder a little about the possibility of the frt at least being slightly silver cad plated. As Grady mentioned, it seems like there was something on them, but it didn't last long. But then maybe not. ![]() |

I refuse to believe that, given the human factor on an assembly line and the number of different suppliers across the country, every single car that came down those lines had exactly the same parts, stampings, finishes, yadda, yadda, yadda as the car before them. There were differences! Accept it. Too many self proclaimed experts should take a closer look at the english language. They may believe they're GOOD, but they need to take note that there are TWO "O"s in that word.

Overall the sheetmetal is in nice shape except for a few small typical spots. Trunk floor is outstanding and the floors are very nice except for a few small pin holes as seen in the last photo.....

Thanks for taken the time to post. What a cool car! Did you toy at all with leaving it as is, or did it need too much?
