I have used 411 services to help track down previous owners of many cars in the past. Two weeks ago it enabled me to meet the original owner of a car I have purchased. 31 years of owner history, photos and documentation that were not forwarded to the current owner. In Ontario, you can go to any Government operated MTO machine(like a bank machine) and for $20 you can get the owner history of any car registered in the province dating back to day one.The only info you need is a current plate # or a V.I.N.
I would be less worried about my phone # being on the internet than actually posting a message. You can change your phone #. The message remains there for ever. You can use the services of "Wayback Machine" to call up information that was posted years ago on the internet. Does the poster who objected have some interest in this story? |

He must be involved with the fellow whos name and number was posted. Gotta be one hell of a story if these cars ever appear. Camaromb ....that must have been a heck of a shocker to find 5 VINS registered to one dude all of a sudden..

Well, I certainly hope those cars show up. The present "title holder" is probably under the (wrong) impression that the statute of limitations has passed for auto theft but guess what, the moment the car moves from one location to another, it just fulfilled all the requirements of the Federal Offense of ITSMV (Interstate Transportation of Stolen Motor Vehicle). Oh, and by using a telephone or any type of mail he also committed Federal Mail and Wire Fraud. Oops. That is of course if 5 cars just happen to pop up with those VINS (newly minted tags I would guess). And even if he's in Canada, guess what, by trying to hose someone over on this side of the border, he is committing the crimes here. And they do extradite for crimes of this level (we're talking about $5,000,000 worth of Camaros) That's more than enough to make any Federal Prosecutor salivate.

The story for many years has been that the Merollis ZL1s were stolen new and never recovered. Having checked those VINs several times I have reason to question that.
#11 still exists in Ohio. #24 was recovered in MA in 1973 and junked. #32, #37 and #50 have not shown any registration info. They may or may not have been stolen. If they were stolen and never recovered NCIC would show them titled to an insurance company as #43 is. As they are not, other possibilities exist.
