From 1971, my L72 Biscayne at Cornhusker Raceway near Omaha. Headers, Hurst, Sun tach, scattershield and slicks. Doing my best to make my current Biscayne like the old one. And fender flags changed from 427 to 307....

My uncle had a 1964 Impala SS 409/425, White-on-white back in the '60s. He pulled the 409 numerals and replaced with '327' emblems. Apparently, there used to be a lot of street racing by the eat n' park on Banksville road in Pittsburgh, and he participated frequently. People couldn't believe they got beat by a '327'. As a tribute to that old street racer trick, I still have '283' emblems on my '65 Nova, even though it has a Vortec head, roller cammed 355 and M20 now.

Looks like it's missing something important... :-)

Found some pics of my '70 Nova from circa 1975 and not taken at the same time. Car was originally a 307 auto car with manual drum brakes, perfect for a drag car. National Speed Shop in Canoga Park, Ca. built the car and used it as advertisement at the drags in the early'70's. I first saw the car in my high school auto shop and had to have it. They dropped in a built big block (who knows what it had) a 4 speed and the 12 bolt with 5:13 gears. To think I traded a guy a '72 Yamaha R-5 in good condition and $1700 cash for this monster amazes me. The sound of the Purple Hornie's could be heard for miles. (Sorry Mom)

The picture quality is bad but thought everyone would get a kick out of this.

Oh, the valve covers. That's another long winded story.

Just another reason I really want a pair.

Ain't no fun in viewing your car as an 'investment'. Get out there and beat on it!

A buddy of mine was trying to set the timing and was busy moving the distributor around. I was sitting behind the wheel pumping the gas pedal and we got ignition and a huge backfire through the carb. It blew both valve covers off and removed all the facial hair from my friend as his head was under the hood. I just threw the valve covers on and pushed the car into my backyard. Bought a new set of valve covers and had it towed to a speed shop to be dyno tuned. It was my first car.

I drove by my buddies house one night and he was on the phone with his girlfriend and she said was that Bart's car? lol

The car coasted so good that late at night I would cut the motor off 1/2 mile from my house and glide into the back yard.
