Our first thought was that this color was cleared out of the guns before shooting the orange. The problem is, that Riverside gold is a Corvette only color in 69. That color should not have been on the line (if this is where the painting took place) as it was not a Nova color. We also thought maybe that with a -- paint code, it was ment to be this color, but this is the only area where this color is on the car. You can see the paint layers on the left qtr down to bare metal and It's orange.

We think maybe, that there was a mix code mistake. H/O (72) in my Dupont book shows (990) Lucite code 5021LM.
Riverside gold is (980) 5029L lucite Corvette only.
Perhaps they got the wrong color, shot the middle to clear what they had when they discovered it, shot the bottoms of the pillars with the orange, and blacked the edges with the same color that was used on the inner door window frames. If you look, you can also see there are a lot of areas with factory primer still showing that were not top coated with anything.
Now the other issue is that there are no factory studs for the Vtop. There were also no staples. The top was cut to fit around the molding clips. There is also no callout for a V top on the trim tag.
Until I removed the top, I was pretty sure this was a dealer installed top. Now I'm more inclined to believe this was a factory job. Perhaps the tag showing the car was sent to the factory body shop had more to do with the top install than the -- color.
We've sent pics to Brian H., and Marlin. I invite anyone to stop by and take a look. I'd like to find the answer to what we have here.
I personally believe we have A, or maybe more factory screw ups. But any help in solving this would be appreciated
Thanks, Schonye

Kurt, I have a 69 X66 Olympic gold camaro sitting 10 feet away from this car. It's not Olympic gold.
