Darren:
I notice yours has DOT on the sidewall. If you are absolutley certain that this is an original, it dispells the myth that no 69 tires had the DOT embossed on the side. When was your car built? Lynn |

Thanks Mark! Hmm, that tire was on a 2/28 YH wheel.
Thanks on the DOT part. I wasn't sure it was on original tires til now. Maybe Alec can scan the decode page and post it. ![]()

2nd week Feb 69 is the build date on my car. I'll pull the tire out of the trunk later tonight and photo the YH stamp and date.

Quoting from a recent post on the NCRS Tech Board:
"After 1968, tires were required to have DOT source code info molded into the sidewall. For the first several years, the code/sequence was manufacturer-proprietary, but starting in 1971, the sequence was standardized into a 10-digit code with the last three digits representing the month/year of manufacture. When the century rolled over, the sequence was extended to eleven digits, with the last four indicating month/year".

[/ QUOTE ] I have 2 NON-DOT original spares for my 1966 Vettes (Coupe and Convertible). The original Firestone Deluxe Champion Super Belted I have for the 1970 Camaro has a DOT Stamping. So it fits the trend.

So then what is this date ? My thought was this was a 69 tire but the letter is not one of the two listed as 69's.
