Dave,
If I understand correctly, the Gold (pictured) Monte Carlo is a BB with 4-speed. In looking at the pictures, it appears to be an SS454 based on the fender enblem, dual exhaust and possible horizontal rubber rear bumper strip (can't tell for sure). At any rate, what you are saying is that car has the 4-speed? I would love to hear more about it. It is a well known fact that you could get a 402 4-speed Monte but I have never been able to find a real SS454 4-speed car which is really odd as you would think it would be a natural. Tell us more. (sorry to rob the thread) ![]() Rick

To my knowledge a documented 454 4 speed Monte has yet to surface. From my research into the GM resto package and copies of dealer order froms the only possible way to get a 454 4speed was in 1971, and it could only be had by ordering the ls-6 454 (I've never seen/heard of a documented one of those manual or automatic for that matter) Take a look at the attached shipping doc found under the back seat.

-------I also had a 71 Monte with four speed and big block. Also a 402/400/396. It was blue/black gut/white top. Optioned pretty much the same as the Autumn Gold one. I sold it with 5500 original miles in about 1980/81 while still living in Chicago. The guy said he was going to drive it, and I almost backed out of the deal as it was one of the nicest original cars I ever had. Has anyone around Chicago seen or heard of this car?.........Bill S
