Will;
The two small holes in the crossmember indicate a small block, regardless of trans type, (the car is definitely a manual shift car). If a prior owner installed an a/t trans, I would assume that it was a TH350 since a TH400 requires a completely different crossmember (more of a 'tubular' design). Once you get the broadcast sheet out of the seat, 1st make sure that the body number on the sheet matches the last six digits of the body number on the trim tag. I have seen several instances where the wrong broadcast sheet is found in the original seats, although this probably indicates that the line worker was following the codes on the sheet taped to the firewall, installed the correct seat type into the car, but did not select the seat specific identified to that particular car.

Then look at the various option boxes, it will say L34 for 396/350hp, or L78 for the 375hp version if it was a big block. If the car was a small block, there will most likely be no engine code designation on the sheet. If the car was a console car, there will be a code on the sheet (for the tunnel piercings), you should definitely have the B80, B84, B90, (I think), and especially Z26 for the Super Sport option, A51 for the buckets, M20 for the 4speed, N10 for the dual exhaust, and probably some more since the car seems to be nicely optioned. Let us know the codes, and we'll let you know what they mean.

Even if it turns out not to be a big block car, it would be a nice car when done right.

the paper I found didn't look like the above attachment, this looks more like a tag type as it is thinker than normal paper,I didn't see anyother paper under the seat.
I have a line on the orginal block,it is said that it was sleeved and put into a camaro for dragracing.ihaven't talked to the man that pulled it from the car.Iam thinking of a title search ,but that requires me to retitle the car in my name yet I am not sure I want to keep it.
althought It does remind me of the really green 69 SS 350 nova I had at 18.
oh well time will tell!!!
it has the large opening core support,3/8 fuel line, exhaust plate, and the speedo comes out next to the dist.(is that indcation of big block?)
I hope to be able to locate some previous owner has the car is supposed to be a local car.

Will

also the date typed on the card was 6-27-70,I'll have to check the other numbers to make sure it is for this car.

I believe the paper you found will show the actual assy date, the trim code, the body sequence number, and maybe one other number. I have seen these 'cards' but don't know what they were used for.

The speedo cable exit hole is only indicative of the trans type, not engine size.

To my knowledge, you don't have to retitle the car to do a title search in MD. I have done searches for cars that I have never owned

Marlin,

I have seen three different type of sheets.

1 - The Fisher Body sheet used during body assembly. Mostly found under the rear seat which was installed before it left Fisher. Included mostly RPO's that required Fisher to pierce the body or weld on extra parts (moulding, rear swaybar, floor shifter, defroster).

2- The CHASSIS BROADCAST COPY. Which had codes for Engine compartment, drivetrain, and suspension.

3- The BODY BROADCAST COPY. Which had codes for anything that was in (radio, lights, cluster, wiring, floormats), poked thru the body to the drivers compartment (Speedo cable, master cylinder, steering column, antenna), or was applied to the body (tire pressure decal, emissions decal, paint stripe, moulding).

Some codes are on both Body and Chassis sheets. The 70 Nova Broadcast Copy's are done on older systems that the 70 Chevelle and Camaro's. Willow Run switched to the same system a few years later.
