Well...I guess it will be ok, Mike
![]() Casey: So, this ain't your first rodeo, huh?! I didn't realize you have been at the "pure stock" thing for this long! That explains why you know so many of the people/cars at the events. Seriously, though, good to have you both on the board! So, who's going to Ohio? |

My car is already in Ohio. I'm working on getting a set of 3.91 or 4.10 gears. Other than that it's ready to go. I hope to have it consistantly in the 12's this year. Rob will you guys be commin'? Or are you just going to Michigan?
Casey, Did you notice they talk a awful lot about Chevys on this site? ![]() [Edited by Mike Wowk (05-04-2001 at 09:27 AM).] |

Well, for sure we will be in Michigan, but I don't know about Ohio. We have yet to acquire a 427/512 block, so the "old" 427 is still in the car. If we can get the engine rebuilt by then, I wouldn't mind heading out to OH and getting a few runs in before the tear down in Michigan. But, at the current pace, I may NEVER get an engine built!!!!

Rob,
427/512??? Is that the range of cubic inches you may be running? Shame on you! You had us all believing you guys were straight shooters and only believed in "pure stock" Look here Caseys only been here a short time and he has already corrupted you! |

Hey Rob,
Let me handle this light weight for you! Same basic thing just like 350,403,455. |

I forgot that some of you "outcasts" were over here from Buick board! I should have been more specific...in '69 the COPOs generally used the block casting "512", which was a pre-cursor of things to come in '70, as it was notched for the longer throw of the 454 crank.
Funny thing, though...seems I keep getting emails about "stroking" this and that...I guess that sort of thing is popular with small block Olds engines... ![]() |

So a 427 has a shorter stroke than a 454?

YES
A 427 has a 3.760" stroke, compared to the even 4" stroke of a 454. Same rod length, same bore. |
