I have to say, I have seen some L89s with non cowl hoods, this is a first for me to see one on an L89. Always thought that was odd, you pay up for better heads, yet don't get the hood that forces the air down its throat. Maybe all these L89s came out before the hood was offered. Super cool car, great blue color + black interior + M22.

Actually 13.
Of them, only #65 has an Ohio connection. Ordered and sold by Lavery Chev, Alliance OH. Two of the 10 FG Gibb cars, #36 [4-speed] and #45 [auto] are among the group that did not have a dealer re-assignment. Cars unsold as of May '69 were returned to Norwood and eventually re-invoiced to other dealers. It has been long presumed that Gibb returned 37 cars. If one of these two was returned, then that story changes. It has been stated that QC had the ZL1 for at least 6 months. A Gibb ZL1 would have had a dealer invoice of around $5800, far more than any other Camaro in their inventory. They would have had significant interest in moving it and would have run newspaper ads for it ala Huebner. To date, no QC ad for a ZL1 Camaro has turned up.

There were typos in those ads for sure, and that dealer added options on cars maybe the 427 w wire wheel covers wasn't a iron motor 427 which everyone assumes because it doesn't say zl1 in the ad .

....break in the engine, changed out the tires then it snowed. They yank the L89 for a 427! Oh my. BWAG tells me it laid on the parts room floor for months and parts were scavenged as needed. He said the alum. heads were problematic...

I knew a guy that had a ZL1 that ran at Edgewater but I can't remember his name off hand. I think he traded it for another 69..It probably came from OC.

Let's find those ads and add QC to the history of the ZL1 Camaro.
