I am just the opposite and put on my dumb cap and act like I do not know anything. This always gives them the confidence to give you the complete history of the car and to me makes for a very humorous day. The are idiots everywhere but I enjoy these.

Here's the Z28 spec page that I scanned from Chevrolet's 1971 Camaro sales brochure. Note the sentence in the second paragraph that clearly states <span style="text-decoration: underline">&quot;The mechanical lifters.&quot; </span>Send this to the jackass and see what he has to say.

I usually carry GM documents, dealer books, and brochures in my trunk when I attend cars shows. There's usually some people that are just curious about things. Then there are the guys that have said, you couldn't get that engine in a Caprice let alone the 4 speed. So, I pull the stuff out and show them. So far it hasn't failed.
