Hello guys, the car was purchased at Grant's sale by us and was taken to MD for some re-furbishing before we took it to Mecum some 6 months later. AFTER purchasing the car from Grant's sale the consigner contacted us and told us he had original parts that came off the car such as the Hone-O-Drive overdrive unit original Motion hood tach extra L88 hood original ignition box and another 3 ring binder of documentation and more. In short I paid $10k extra for everything. We put the Hone-O-Drive back in the car and the hood tach and had the car wet-sanded and buffed and underside detailed. The car was stunning when finished. We still have original parts to this car and a whole binder of docs. Mecum would not disclose the buyers info as it was purchased after it went across the block. We closed the bidding at $200k and ended up striking a deal at $225k after the fact. Wish we had known it was on ebay because it would be back in my garage at $125k what a steal. And to whoever has it now if you are interested in the original parts and a 3 ring binder of more docs for this car please let me know. All we were told is it was being shipped up north from the auction and as I said they would not disclose the buyers info.

Wow I can't believe they charged you for docs on a car you bought from them that's low IMO!! What do the extra docs consist of? I thought the car had out standing documentation already with it. I could see holding back exta parts for cash but documents?? Thats pretty bad considering they aren't worth anything to any other car.

Hey Robbie, you would have been fighting ME for that car had I known it sold for a buck and a quarter. That was an early Christmas present. Haven't seen you around for a while, but I've been out for back surgery. You guys did a great job with that Chevelle and I wish I would have been able to see the before and after. Oh well...........See ya around, Dave.

Didn't this car have an SS hood on it originally, not a stinger hood which I think was added later?

The Stinger Hood was part of the Phase 3 package. This car was 1 of 2 69 Chevelle Phase 3 cars built the other got an L88 427 and a L88 style fiberglass hood. And yes when it was sold at Baldwin new it would of had a stock SS hood which was replaced when the car was sent to Motion for the Phase 3 package. This is the only numbers matching Phase 3 69 Chevelle out there. Joe's wife apparently did not want him to void the 5/50 warranty so the 396/375 was upgraded to L88 type specs but still retained it's numbers matching born with motor.
