it is actually easy to register the car with vintage plates in new york. they have to be the paltes that were issued when the car was made. the plates you have are 1973 plates. DMV is a nightmare, but this was way easier than i thought.

I would try to run through the '73 plates anyway. Do the people at the DMV really know what plate is accurate for 1969 is anyway?

you have to register the car with historical plates first. then you have to send a picture of the two plates to DMV in albany. they know what is what. i might have an extra set to trade for that old vertigate shifter!

sorry cant get rid of the VGate it is my uncles original that has been passed thru the family but i do have more plates from NY if you are interested let me know, where are you located on long island
