For the record, I've taken no offense at this thread. I knew the pond I was wading into and decided to throw my 2 cents in. While we may disagree on the market value of this particular car, I appreciate your comment. Again, good luck.

4. I subscribe to Collector Car Market Review which in their current issue STILL value these cars @ $83K for a #1 car.

if you're so confident in the value, throw it on ebay with no reserve.

youll find out what it's worth in a week.

Not willing to do that.

It is a special car that will take a special buyer. Who knows where he is or where and when he is looking.

I am just pointing out what has sold recently and for how much according to the surveyed market and a comparision to other cars for MORE money that I am scratching my head about. I have sratched my head about the same thing regarding 57 Chevy passenger car pricing in the past vs. 57 Corvettes. Often times the passenger cars were selling for MORE than the Corvettes in like condition and equipment. When I was a kid in the 60s guys were buying used 57 passenger cars rather than the 57 Corvette they REALLY wanted but could not afford. Today they buy the same car they had in the past due to nostalgia and fail to think they could buy the Corvette they WANTED back in the day for the same price now and buy the passenger car.

I would put it in hemmings or ebay. There is a ton of stuff sold off auction so don't get discouraged if you see things not sold on completed auctions. call up a few folks that have similar cars to see if they sold. I was selling a 55 c300 hemi car once and got bummed when I saw a completed auction go on a similar car and thought that was my target sell price, so I was going to lower my price to a guy that wanted my car. I decided to call the guy with the similar car (that did not sell) and found out it sold for a lot more outside of the auction. That move saved me a ton on pricing my car.
It will take a while to sell a car like this, one of the prototypes for the 67 WO/RO cars went for huge money very recently, who knows how your car relates to that. Putting cool wheels on it like the wheels the other guy has, or cragars (like on my 67 gtx), could only help draw people to it. I really like that other hemi car on this thread versus yours because of how it is presented, yet they are the same car.
good luck and be patient. -bob

I FIRST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO THOSE THAT HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THIS THREAD. I DON'T WANT THE BELOW TO BE TAKEN PERSONALLY OR AS DEROGATORY BY THE QUOTED POSTER OR ANYONE ELSE, SIMPLY READ IT FOR WHAT IT SAYS AND DON'T READ ANYTHING INTO IT.

We don't know one another and I have no idea of where your expertise lies.

I joined this site because of it's name and because I have and have owned many super cars in my lifetime

I really didn't expect to particularly find a buyer for my car on this site. I did advertise it here basically for trade as many people today are "car rich and cash poor." Many in the hobby are not always brand loyal, such as myself that love many different makes and models of old muscle cars. So my hopes were that I may find someone here that had an interest in doing some trading plus cash.

Since you don't know me I will give you some background on myself. I began selling Dodges and AMCs NEW in 1968. I spent 30 years in the automotive arena in some form or another. Auto sales and management, owned an auto repair shop, body shop, and was the fleet manager for one of the worlds largest Nissan dealerships selling over 1300 cars per year in my department alone EXCLUDING rental cars. Additionally, in the last 42 years I have personally owned approximately 150 cars most of which were muscle, sports, antique, and special interest cars. I have owned about 20 Corvettes alone ranging from 1954-1973 as well as 409, and 454/450 cars.

As you can see, I am no stranger to the hobby or auto sales. Although I have attended B-J as well as many other classic car auctions for 27 consecutive years I have never bought or sold a car at one of these auctions. I have always sold my cars through my own marketing efforts.

I posted the WIW for my car to see what the reaction to it would be on this site. I KNOW what the car is worth and I also know what the challenges are to sell a car like this especially in this market. The facts are that there are many Hemi cars out there right now that can be purchased for a considerable discount from prices 3 years ago, as with many other muscle cars of other makes and models. I find it quite amusing that I had WIW comments of as low as $45K when I have not seen ANY REAL Hemi car sell that low in the last 7 years. I have been tracking Hemi "B" body sales since 1998. Today, even a project 66/67 Hemi car WITHOUT engine or drivetrain sells for a bare minimum of about $6-7K. If anyone can show me a bonified sale for less on a project as mentioned OR a REAL 66/67 Hemi car that is remotely close to the condition of mine for under $50K I would be VERY interested to hear about it.

I see many throwing around prices on different web sites for WIW Hemi cars in the $50K price range but have yet to see one sell for that recently. A lot of this is "wishful thinking."

At this point I WANT to sell my car, but I don't HAVE to sell it either.

In the last 12 months I have sold off 350k in collector cars in order to complete the construction of our new home. I would have liked to have sold a few of my cars for 25% more based on 2-3 years ago pricing but the market was and is not going to pay it. My thoughts on the value of yours was based more on the recent experience I have had selling mine.

I had a 1970 Cuda, BS23Uxxxxxx that was completely restored down to the unabody on a rotisserie, many NOS parts used on a 50,000 original mile Cuda. A Ray Barton 528 Hemi and an an EFI was set up on it. Too much to list. Went to a collector in Florida that just loves it. Here is a link on that car, it had been in many Mopar mags., and Car Craft, Oct. '99. Had it for ten years and bought it from Matt Delaney. http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/f...uda/index.html
During the height of the market this could have sold for 100k to the right buyer. I tried hard to get more but the money and buyer(s) were not out there. IMO the market has gotten much worse since I sold it.

Bottom line is money is tight, unemployment is high, credit is squeezed, and those with money are thinking hard as to if they should be buying at all. This all contributes to a real buyers market.

I appreciate your comments and thoughts You are spot on with your remarks about the bottom line.

I know that it is hard to determine the true meaning of the written word. Many apparently think that I have my nose out of joint over this thread, but I can assure you that I don't. None of the people that have contributed to this thread are buyers for this car and are simply stating what they THINK is a value on my car. I don't take offense at any of it.

Thanks for the info and link. That is a nice car. Unfortunately as you know Mopar E bodies took some of the hardest hits in the last 3 years on prices.

Although you did not state a sales price for the Cuda and neither does the article, I know that YOU are aware of it but for the benifit of others here that don't know, the "U" in the V.I.N. of this car means it was originally a 440/375 h.p. 4 barrel car NOT an original Hemi car. I just don't want others to try and compare this as a REAL Hemi car for pricing comparisions.
