Default F.A.S.T. Racing.

Hey all...

I am not sure how many of you guys follow this racing format, it is VERY cool. For those that aren't familiar, the cars must have a 100% stock apperance, even down to the bias ply tires that were originally installed on the car. However, any internal engine and diveline mods are allowed, as long as they do not compromise the stock appearance of the car.

The Fall National Event took place over this weekend at VMP in Virginia.

The new FAST ET record was set by Terry Penningtons L88 Corvette. He clocked an unbelievable 10.30 pass on the bias plies with exhaust manifolds, full 2.5" exhaust and factory L88 heads. He had stiff competition from Dave Dudek in the black Hemi RR. Dave was the previous ET record holder and still holds the MPH record. The RR ran a best of 10.40, so it wasn't easy. A somewhat scary moment occured when Ed Cook. who runs a 6 pack Roadrunner and is knocking on the door of the 10's (has run 11.0's), lost control on the big end and hit the wall at over 120 MPH. Fortunately Ed wasn't hurt, and the car sustained relatively minor damage. The car Ed runs is a "real" A12 liftoff hood RR in the very rare black color. It is one of only a few made and is a very unique piece of Musclecar history. We'll get it back together. Bad news is that Ed was done for the day, even though he did get the win light during that unforgettabe pass.

Congrats to Terry and all the other competitors.

Mike
