If there was another on-line auction site available now, I wouldn't look back at Ebay. Let them fail; they deserve it.
They act like GM in the '70s & '80s. And I don't care if they fail either because they deserve it too.
A successful business provides a good service to the customer, and they've BOTH forgotten what the customer wants. They USED to know it, but now they're just riding the wave to the rocks.

Yup...I've just about had it with eBay and Paypal...last year I sold a guy a carb and he paid with Paypal, he filed a complaint with Paypal saying the carb was far from described because it needed to be rebuilt, eventhough in the auction I stated it will need to be rebuilt and it was sold as is....well the guy got his money back and I got the carb back missing some parts...I asked Paypal for a justification as to why they ruled in his favor and never heard back.

Oh here's another good one...I bought an engine block off eBay and paid through Paypal...I take the block to the machine shop to have it looked over because the guy told me that the block has no damage and has never been repaired...well the machine shop finds a sleeve in one cylinder and a crack in the block...the machine shop didn't get to the block right away so it was after the 60 complaint limit that I got the information...so I send eBay and Paypal an email about the situation including the eBay auction number and the Paypal transaction number...and the reply I got from eBay was "We're sorry but this transaction took place outside eBay and we cannot help you"...HA holy crap I was floored...
I only used eBay as a last resort and now I am afraid to do that now.

Paypal works for me I use pay-pal credit and when I receive my item and if by some chance some thing is wrong I just tell pay-pal That I am sending it back AND I AM NOT PAYING
Trust me going that route you never will get screwed trust me it works really good and if every thing is ok I just pay off pay pal credit My bank account does not even come to play I have been doing this for years now and NEVER got screwed
Just this week my wife’s grand Cherokee right front window would not work
The oem”s window regulator has a plastic block that breaks and that ;s the end of it
The dealership want ;s 275.00 for a mopar regulator BUT it still has the same dumb
Plastic block I found a guy on e-bay yesterday that was selling a –re-engineered regulator with metal blocks for 110.00 I paid for it with pay pal credit and just got it tonight I was just saying to my wife before e-bay I would just have to replace this with an crappy oem regulator that would last a year or two and would have to redo it all over again
Now if this was NOT what I wanted I would tell pay pal credit that I am not paying and to make it right BUT this regulator is much better that the oem one and I think that’s the end of that window breaking again

It says that if the item is for pickup only then you do not have to use paypal. So I am going to offer pick up at your front door as long as you send me the money!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds as though Paypal is good to use then if you have buyers remourse....you get it and you don't like it, don't want it any more or you paid too much you can get your money back no questions asked...It makes sense to me, either way Paypal gets their money out of it...

They also say you don't have to accept PayPal in the "Mature Audiences" section where all the sexually explicit auctions are.

I wonder if I could sell some obsolete auto parts over in that area??

Verne, I'm with you. First, it was NO MORE NEGATIVES for deadbeat Buyer. PLUS...if you POSITIVE FEEDBACK the non-paying SOB, you are not permitted to write anything negative about the experience. A buyer can leave the nicest Positive Feedback in the world, but can screw you bigtime by entering low ratings in the 5-Star Rating System. NOW....you can accept ANY PAYMENT except their 3% PAYPAL system???

I'M DONE with Ebay AND Paypal!

I wonder if I buyer could still pay by money order if they contacted the seller through the message system. This is pretty rediculous not that I thin about it.

Per eBay, this can be done but they will be watching so the seller does not abuse this privledge.
Time for a new auction site to start up and learn from the stupid stuff eBay has done.

I don't have a debit card and I'll be damned if I'm going to give ANYONE my bank account number. Now what??????????????

[/ QUOTE ]

by using your Debit card YOU ARE giving them access to your bank account. Think of it this way, when the different airlines folded (Aloha/ATA and others) if you paid by credit card you had a good chance on getting your $$$ back, A debit card is just like cash, its taken out of your account ASAP and good luck on getting any back. Those that are fighting the airlines who paid with debit/cash were told to stand at the end of the line. guess how i know
