As Denis posted, they were a welded retrofit and not clamped. One of my old SS's had a service receipt for the retrofit in the glove box...

My bad regarding retrofit axel bracket. It was welded on at the dealerships. I must have it mixed up with another retrofit.

If you want to get technical, its Axl Rose, not Axel.

Yep, you're right...but it IS Axel Foley, right?
From what I remember...Guns & Roses got their name from two bands...the LA GUNS and the Hollywood Roses... AXL got his name froma band he was in...Ironically called A.X.L. His real name is William Bruce Bailey (William Rose). Enough of the GNR trivia... ![]()

early cars did not have the bar, GM did not realize how bad the problem was until the kicked some out for sale...cant recall exactly but I think it was the third week of Dec?? they started showing up...I think CRG has it pinned down for a exact date. [/ QUOTE ] CRG info says "mid-December 1966" http://www.camaros.org/radiusrod.shtml Sue's 12D car (12/24 Protecto-Plate delivery date) has the bracket..

If the car did not have a posi rear, it did not get the rod.
So all cars with an open 10 bolt did not get one. |

'68 and newer performance applications used Multi Leafs to cure the problem.
