The car was in Idabel Ok not Ok City. I purchased the car in 96 or 97 in Toronto. Rich P put the car on ebay for me last year. I decided not to sell the car after Mark B told me that the car might be rebodied. I did further investigation of the car and concluded that Mark was probably correct. The vin is on the cowl but on closer inspection it appears some metal work was done in that area. I didn't pull the heater box to check for the vin. Some things point to the car being correct but I felt there was enough evidence to sell the car as a probable rebody
priced accordingly. I sold it last year and it was immediately flipped to Mike V. The car had the Canadian docs with it when I sold it. The engine and trans are not original but the BE was dated correctly I think. The block is a 512 but two bolt mains. The front springs are small block and the correct rear springs were heated and bent to lower the car. The car is for the most part the way I bought it. Hope this info helps.

Wow, Phil, thanks for that information. I was going to bid on this car, if you don't mind me asking, what did you sell it for, or do you know what Mike V did? Thanks for any info.

Since the sale was a private sale I'm reluctant to reveal the selling price. The purchaser might not appreciate a public discussion of such. He sold to Mike so I was not involved in that transaction. Having said all that I can say that the price was very reasonable in my opinion. It's difficult to really judge since there is quite a spectrum of opinion on rebodied cars. I for one don't want to own one at any price. If I had known the story on the silver car I wouldn't have owned it in the first place. I'm not saying that the car is rebodied without question but there is certainly a cloud over it. It also gets back to that whole discussion about what really constitutes a rebody. This didn't answer your question but I'll answer any that I can.

Phil, you stated the engine and trans are not original, but yet it shows only 7,000 + miles, do you know if this is correct?

I wouldn't put much trust into the odometer reading. It was represented to me as accurate but other statements by the seller have come into question. I do believe the car is a rebody and the odometer could be from the replacement body. I certainly wouldn't use it as any justification to purchase the car. Too bad on this one because it is really well optioned. Even the red lines are correct for the car.
