We live in the "training area" for Luke. The pilots go into afterburner frequently...after they clear our neighborhood.

I don't mind the sound at all...it let's me know that they're keeping themsleves "sharp" for if and when they need to go into battle

I just found it ironic that they closed Arizona Motorsports PArk due to noise, and Luke AFB is right there!

And the other dragstrip/motocross park is only 10 miles from there!

I love racing at E-town. It is a great facility. The people are friendly, the track is always in great shape and my car always performs its' best there. Win or lose, I always leave with the intentions of returning soon.
Now the bad....I only have one complaint and that is parking. I don't understand why they allow spectator parking in the pits. I don't know how many times I would make a run, return to my pit only to find some idiot parked their SUV right behind my trailer. Other than that, the place is great!!!

Did anyone else see the blurb in Hot Rod about Raceway Park possibly closing due to noise complaints from the locals? I'm glad to see operations are back!

The cars in your sig sound familar. Did you have a holley carb rebuilt at discount auto? I think I saw your 1969 Z one day there.

Our old speedway was closed years ago due to encrouching residential housing. But it took 20 yrs for them to open another track and they placed it next to the airport. No problems about noise there. We also have a smaller midtown airport that they are going to be running the first of a 5 year contract with the champs series cars as vancouver will be no longer running due to the venue being taken up for development for the 2010 winter games. Can't wait!!

I had asked Belair to post those so people could see what E-town looked like in '67 (when those were taken). That's when the pits were still on the right side of the track, mostly dirt, with a 2 lane road leading to staging.
Just a little nostalgia.

Thanks Bob.

By the way, anyone have a guess what kind of wheels are on Franco's '62? I can't tell if they're slots or if they have some meat to them???

--------First,,,,,Could it be that those are chrome plated steel slots that were somewhat popular in the day?
--------Second,,,,,They sure didnt waste any material building that trailer did they? The minimalist theory in action, I guess
--------Third,,,,,Really cool O9er!!!!!!!!!Bill S
