I have all kinds of old stuff stored at my dads house. Some n my old bedroom when I was a kid and other stuff in the garage. The 6-71 is in the room. It is the orginal one off the old Wildfire Camaro that used to run around Freeport/Forreston Illinois back in the mid to late 70's

Real trip down memory lane... I have beem reading this thread with an ache in my heart... Back in 1976 I bought a Blown Hemi 1940 Willys B/Gasser, bright orange, wheelie bars, parachute, the whole works. I tapped water into the block, added a radiator, lights, mufflers,(if you could call them that), and proceded to race Woodward and Gratiot avenues in Detroit. At that time I had the fastest car on the streets of Detroit in the 8 second bracket, this was before Pro Street was invented, back at a time when the cops in Detroit blocked off a section of road and charged everyone to run to cover the cost of emergency crews standing by. I was finally upstaged by two off duty Detroit cops who bought a wrecked Nova funny car and rebuilt it, adding Radiator, lights, etc, and ran the streets of Detroit with it. They beat me. I will never forget that night after the race, sitting in a parking lot with the body of the funny car up, the smell of nitro in the air, and having just raced two of Detroits finest without getting a ticket. Those were the days....That was early in this hobby before everyone(including me) hauled there cars around on trailers, spent as much time cleaning and detailing as driving them, and having one of the biggest worries not getting beat or blowing a motor, but rather having to worry about the current market value of our cars... All of us who own the cherished Supercars/Musclecars of today should build a street monster to go out and take this hobby back to the time when the guy at the top of the heap had the quickest car, not the most valuable or rarest. I sold that Willys to a friend who still has it, I have been trying for years to break him down to sell it back to me, I think I almost got it. If I succeed I will not garage that car to sit, I will be back on Woodward reliving my childhood and most likely going to jail in the process. I am going to try to dig out an old photo to scan and post here, from a time when I still had hair and could still see my belt buckle, and better time that has past into history never to come again.....What a Gas! Thanks,
Motown

THESE old gasser cars are HOT right now. A lot being built, restored, raced and even the show car thing. I have had a few inquiries on doing them lately so I know its picking up steam. I have heard thru the grapevine that a couple of famous racers have changed hands recently for nearly ZL-1 type money (300K).
