Landfall is about an hour away in Atlantic City. Still have power here, wind and rain is really cranking now. I've seen some branches come down, no trees yet and I hope it stays that way.

I'm right in the center of NJ and right now it's blowing pretty hard. Not much rain though (yet). As of yesterday, I was more worried about the rain that was forecast because when Irene hit last year, the whole flood plain behind me came up in my yard and was within less than an inch of flooding a shed with "some" items in there that would not do well underwater. I was very lucky. Yesterday, my wife and I moved a LOT of stuff to another location and I raised many other things off the floor.
One good thing was that this year the town opened the flood gates on the lake to let it drain down ahead of time. Last year the lake was already near full from other rain and it breached the damn due to Irene, and flooded the entire downtown along with 1/2 of my property. Now I'm just a little more worried about the wind because we're surrounded by trees.

Last year:

Hard to imagine what you guys are going through as it is bright, sunny and 53 degrees here, a beautiful day to say the least. Trying to imagine what it is like not that far east of us where things are much different. Everyone be safe and get back to us when you can so we know how you are doing.

Power went out at 5pm. Got the generator running. Its the only wedding gift we have kept after all these years. At the wedding all the ladies laughed because I registered at Home Depot. All the guys understood, though. We bought a generator with the registry money and we have used it for 19 years now!

We had 5 minutes left watching payperview of the Avengers. Dagnabbit!

80 mile gusts here on the Cape. A little worse than a severe winter Nor-Easter, but no real damage on the lower Cape...
