Thanks Greg!! The original "HQ" tag is in rough shape. I already ordered a new set from HBC. Thanks again.

well, I'm giving up. Moog 6312 it will be. Can't take a chance with the HBC springs if they are wrong.

The original springs on my RS COPO were "HQ" springs. It was a late build (09A) car.

</div></div> Makes complete sense. "HQ" doesn't appear on the 69 spring charts. I was told its on the 1970 spring charts. CRG does however post some info on the "new HQ springs" for the ZL1. HeartBeat City describes the "HQ" spring decal as for all SS396's with 325 and/or 350 hp. The info is all over the place and NOT clear and concise at all. Just my .02 |

Camaro Don;
The reason the information is all over the place is that these were 'computer selected'. Means you can not list just an engine combination. Vendors list a popular applications. They can't list them all. The only place to see what is the right spring is to use a period parts book and run the math. The calculator does that for you. What code did you come up with there? I think I said this before. Part number overrides codes. You have the part number from the tag. The spec for 3955724 is what you are looking to have. Installed Height @ 1830 lbs = 11.09" Aftermarket manufacturers will get you in the ball park. but there are endless stories on the internet about ride height issues. If you are looking for the exact ride height, you are probably better starting with the Heartbeat ones and hope they are not too short(I have never use them). But even then you may need to trim the spring just like the Moog to get the correct ride height. No matter what spring you buy; you need to shoot for Installed Height of 11.09" @ 1830 lbs. Good luck, Greg

Greg the more you read, the less you know. Even CRG states the info is unclear. HBC which I happen to use often, does not list an "HQ" spring with the GM # 3955724. HBC lists GM# 3955724 as an "HA" spring. Its a crap shoot. I went with the Moog 6312. Everything you read states they are rated at 337 lbs. Called Moog direct and they said the 6312 is rated at <span style="font-weight: bold">344</span> lbs. Another example of misinformation. The load for this spring is 1800 lbs. These numbers are pretty close to the "HQ" springs. Funny thing is, after all the reading I've done, a sponser on this site (D&R) has GREAT info on front springs and even lists the "HQ". They have them for 149.95 Well too late now.
