Verne.....the gas cap was original to the car.....Camaros with the NA9 (Calf emissions)vented the gas tank all the way under the car to the front and into the charcoal canister. Only cars built to be sold in the state of CA were this way and that's why they all had a non vented gas caps. This Z28 was sold new in Alameda CA and the NA9 emission package was mandatory for all Camaros sold in CA. Hope this clears things up for you.

Thanks. I knew it had to be non-vented with a return line to the cannister. Just wanted to know if it was correct for Larry'a sake.

That's a replacement probably due to a new owner and a warranty transfer.

New question. The wiring diagram he has doesn't seem to show anything pertaining to the gauge cluster and the amp meter. (which doesn't work). Could someone shed some light on the wiring for that gauge? I'm going to help fix it but I know as much about a '70 Z-28 as I do about Amphicars. I did find a direct short to ground through the non-functioning clock, but pulled the fuse so that's not an issue for now.
thanks
Verne
