Awesome piece of history and thanks for sharing!! Hopefully this car ends up with it's own webpage similar to your Z's page. The information would be priceless!

Steve, My 73 Formula has the exact same structural crack. When I first got the car, I thought that the previous owner had hit something but it didn't show any cosmetic damage. Thanks for the insight.
Charlie, Awesome T/A! let me get on the list for the future or in case he changes his mind. Happy New Year! Ed

Nice car even though its Red! Ha, just had to since it appears most of them are/where.
The valance thing is a mounting issue for sure however I've seen quit a few 30k+ cars thats still sport their originals without any cracks and/or breaks. Maybe it all depended on the beginning of the week or the end for those production boys? Would like to see it in person for better documentation however if you have any other photos of the rear undercarriage mainly axle and suspension would be appreciated. Along with the front since there should be another spoiler off the radiator support. Quit a few things are different like the bolts for the rear bumper are usually smeared with undercoating around the heads and these are not. Its egr valve looks silver instead of gold cad, the resonators rusted out or aged similar to the exhaust pipes(due to lack of heat these never burnt off?), the spare is a GR70-15 but looks used ? and a few other items are different. What is the build date on this car ? Also I know there where more then one parts vendor for most items used in assembly which can account for most of my notes above. Killer Car and want to Thank You for posting. Hopefully we al get to see it in the future in person to review and document Thanks again for posting! Brew

That car needs to be documented for an SD restoration guide.

A car like this is why I’m in the hobby. Like art, this is an original, not a reproduction (I like reproductions too) and it should be recognized as such. There is virtually nothing that gets me as excited as a true time capsule.. This car offers a true 3D picture of how these cars were originally built and their hidden secrets. The plating, craftsmanship, components used, stampings, inspection marks, anomalies all provide an accurate account of the assembly process. All I can say is unbelievable, and this car needs to be displayed at the MCACN show for all of us to drool. Maybe the Pontiac guys will put together an SD display for 2011.
Congrats to the new owner

Charley you get two for the price of one... I feel tortured as well !
That car is not only beautiful , it is a beautiful example of one of my favorite body's of all time. I just found the owners of my old T/A and sent them a letter with photos a month ago introducing myself and they never responded to me I may have been happy with this as a replacement ![]()

Actually it's pretty funny since 99.9% of the potmetal dealer emblems we see are old, and pitted, and have lost their paint, when you see one that is literally brand new, it doesn't seem real! </div></div> It looks plastic, so I was thinking perhaps it was retrofitted? Plus, the font doesn't scream 1973 to me. I managed to get an original dealer tag years ago, but then stopped by a few years later to get a backup (just in case). This time they were plastic, although in the same style. |
