Rob, I just bought a Comp Cams 3863143 replacement cam for my L78. Specs all look to be identical to the GM cam. Part number is 11-106-3. What do you think? Are these not any good? Thanks Mike [/ QUOTE ] As with the rest of the non-GM/Crane 143, the specs might *look* the same on paper, but the lobe is different...Jim proved this on a cam doctor. A few of us Pure Stock guys have tried other brands, and we all went back to the GM/Crane unit... As Darren said above, this will be American made, and each one is gonna be held to super tight tolerances. |

That really is an incredible camshaft and it's hard to believe that it debuted during the first year of the big block in 1965! Now I still have the original one I took out of my virgin LS-6 and it's stamped on the end 3904362. I guess they changed the part # in 1970. I've run high 11's with that camshaft. It's truly the musclecar camshaft where you could drive the car to work during the week and still turn very respectable times at the dragstrip come the weekend.

Thanks Mike [/ QUOTE ] Mike, there is nothing wrong with this cam. I have the same one in my 70 L78 Nova and the motor has been together since 1999 and it runs strong. I have had no issues at all. Very good camshaft!! Rich ![]()

Here's the latest on the '143' cam...Jim Lerum has done 99% of the legwork here, so a big THANKS needs to go out to him...and since we've had a better than expected response, we got a little help on the price...here's the scoop:
<u>Cam:</u> $150 + $15 s&h Cam will be an Engine Power cam core, which is Made in the USA and supplies cores to all of the big companies, and then Bullet Cams will CNC grind it to exact specs, which not even the original GM/Crane piece can claim. <u>Lifters: </u> standard solid lifters, $70 + $3 s&h EDM solid lifters, $165 + $3 s&H Lifters are Johnson lifters, which have been around forever, and are also Made in the USA. Again, for EDM lifters, PM me for price We hope to start shipping these in around 10 days, and will get them out to the priority guys first...again, if you need a cam/lifters ASAP, please drop me a PM and check the list @ the beginning of the thread as I'll make a notation beside your name. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ For those of you comfortable with PayPal, you can use the button below, just *be sure* and make a note in the comments section of the transaction exactly what you're paying for [cam and/or lifters] along with your physical shipping address & contact number: <form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post"> <p align="center"> <input type="image" src="https://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/btn/x-click-but04.gif" border="0" name="I2" alt="Make payments with PayPal - it's fast, free and secure!" align="absmiddle" width="62" height="31"><input type="hidden" name="business" value="[email protected]"><input type="hidden" name="item_name" value="sYc and Supercar Registry"><input type="hidden" name="item_number" value="Support for the club, bulletin board, and Supercar Reunion!"><input type="hidden" name="image_url" value="https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/supercarlogo.gif"><input type="hidden" name="return" value="https://www.yenko.net/donation.htm"><input type="hidden" name="currency_code" value="USD"><input type="hidden" name="no_note" value="1"><input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_xclick"> </form> For those of you who prefer snail mail, you can simply send it to the club, and I'll take it from there...but as above, include a note stating *exactly* what you're paying for [cam and/or lifters] along with your physical shipping address & contact number. sYc POB 375 Alton, MO 65606 |
