I think the "E" looks deep in lower case as well as the "B" given the area of the tube it was hit, Charley's rear in pic the upper E was hit on the down side the eaton E was hit on the upper side giving one deep on lower case and one deep on upper case. Stamping a circumference with a smill die will give variance on direction hit and location, whether more parallel or vertical on the tube. A simple pencil scribe next to each other on paper will tell type set.

Alan,
I thought the 1st Yenko order was placed in Nov 1968 and the first cars were 01C or 01D bodies. Does anyone know what rear dates were in the 1st two ZL1s? |

Jeff,
The "BE" axle code is COPO 9560 and COPO 9561 specific. It was generated for those option packages. The "BE" will only appear in box #258 on the broadcast (build) sheet. I will not appear on an order sheet or window sticker, beacuase it is part of the option package. The internal HD parts were OTC in 1967, but not the complete axle assembly. The only warranty service rear I have seen in a COPO had a blank tube and OTC internals. Hope this info helps, ![]() Eric |

Eric will do probably this weekend, I was going to get one to Alan anyways, the car came with alot of parts in boxes that were inside it, another 4 series (EDB 30174) carier with it in a box but damaged some other gears, The carier that was in it is a 4 series with the big springs no paint on them, the caps on housing were orange paint marked no color marks on housing, I have it apart now and cleaned up, I need to buy new brake lines and trying to decide if I want to set it up with 4:10's or 3:73's it had 4:88's in it. The info you and Alan have given has been great!!

That looks like a HD offroad unit. It isn't a COPO 234 unit. Those gears appear to be the 17 tooth axle gears and the springs/plates are either 400 or 800 pound preload parts. It also appears to have the notched pin for 5.13+ gears. Hope this helps.

Eric, I will have to ask my friend Mike his shop did it I told him it was a heavy duty unit and rebuild it as that I will see if he has the stuff that came out of it, he throws nothing away, the other side of the housing is different than I have seen just a small hole
