 This past Tuesday, my son Alex applied for a job online for Texas Roadhouse as a dishwasher - just to get back into the job market. He's been out of it for 14 months due to the CV-19 pandemic with me having Lymphoma. The restaurant is located about 5 miles from us. He gets a call from the Manager who wants to meet him - schedules it for the next day. Alex has over 10 years experience as a Server. The manager asks why a Dishwasher instead of server? Alex told him that Dish washers come and go frequently while Servers don't and he wants to go back to work right away. The manager offers him a Server job right on the spot. He begins next Thursday. Today he spent 4 hours online taking the required Alcohol Certification Course which is required of anyone in the state of NM who serves alcohol to the public. His expired years ago. He passed with flying colors. Yesterday he filled out all the necessary employment and tax forms so all he has to do when he goes to work Thursday is bring his ID stuff so they can photocopy it. Texas Roadhouse is open . . . get this . . . from 3PM to 9PM except Saturday when it closes at 10PM. Twice we have been there and both times, lines were outside to get in. He gets his 2nd vaccine shot Tuesday. I've had both of mine. He is very excited to go back to work and tells me that his boss - the Manager - seems like the kind of man he will really enjoy working with. Since Christmas it has been the two of us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Wonder how I will adjust to being alone every day. I liked being alone prior to his stopping working. I know how to deal with IT . . . . MORE PHOTO POSTING!
