Jon

DANA did do work to the Z28's but more to beef up the 302 versus a 427 buildup. They also got upgraded in the suspension and traction areas

If that is orig paint I think I would use that rust removal stuff that NJsteve is using and just remove all the rust. Then polish the paint and Boeshield the bare metal. What a great survivor.

Exactly how I've been feeling about this car too...once the originality is gone it's too late to turn back..

I agree with Pete (as usual) it is only original once. I would not disturb the oil change sticker. And there is something about that unique tropical corrosion on the tops of the fenders. I would do the drivetrain, drive it and show it.
( for a while at least...don't most car guys get bored with the ride after a couple of years?)

Steve congrats on the acquisition of this magnificent time capsule. My recommendation is to detail it a bit, install the drivetrain and then enjoy it as is for a period of time. BTW we would love to have this one certified through our Vintage Certification program as well.

What makes this site so enjoyable is the cooperative atmosphere and helpful folks that make up this site. Kudos to Jeff, Brian and a host of other people that helped make this happen.

are you guys [Vintage Camaro] at Carlisle this summer again judging/certifying cars, Steve? I have 3 other cars from here going to the indoor display at Carlisle this summer, so MAYBE Brian and I can figure out a way to get this 68 DANA conversion Camaro there too [before restoration commencement]. I haven't spoken with Brian since his long trip to Hawaii, but I plan to contact him later this week to discuss a strategy best befitting this car.

Maybe start a new term "as raced", it would definitely be in a class by itself

Yes our Vintage Camaro Certification program (Brett M, Joe S. Bob H. and myself)will be at Carlisle. This is our eigth year. We appreciate your support of our program and know the passion you have for survivor caliber cars. I hope to speak with Brian this coming week as well(maybe twist his arm ).
