Rob:

Sounds like a cool find. I'm a big fan of First Gen Z/28s and they are rarely purchased from the original owner with original drivetrains and paperwork. Some of the options are great too! Fold down rear seat and rear window defogger, pretty cool. If you are able to post some pictures, you will probably get a more realistic response from members. My advice is mechanical work regardless of what is needed is always cheaper than extensive sheetmetal and paintwork. Determine the value by how much you can do yourself and not farm out. Also structural integrity is important. Rockers, rear frame rails and floor pans are not for the novice. Good luck, have fun, and jump into the deep water. First Generation Z/28s are icons. Ed

I said that he had the original battery. I'm sure it is garbage. But he kept it like pretty much everything. This guy doesn't throw nothin out. He has all records of oil changes, repairs and even the original brochure and the purchase agreement from the dealer when he ordered the car.I did take some pics of the car but I don't know how to post them. The car has some rott in the very lower part of the body, quarter behind tire, bottom of doors, bottom of fender behind tire, gas tank straps broke. The car has been sitting since '76 store inside a POLE BARN. Everything is there for the car except the original starter and altenator. It has 92600 miles on the odometer. It is an original Canadian car (sold in Canada). Here is the list of options:
Soft ray tinted glass, fold down rear seat, rear defrost, center console, 3.55 ratio posi rear axle, power disk brakes, engine block heater, M21 tranny, sport styled steering wheel, special instrumentation, am/fm push button radio, special front bumper, auxiliary lighting, special performance equipment (Z28), cortez silver on dark blue vinyl interior. This car cost $4712.45 when he bought it new. He even traded in a '65 Plymouth Fury III w/440 4spd for it.

So it's a POLE BARN find...? Does that mean it was sitting on a dirt floor?

When gas tank straps break from rust, that is generally a bad sign...

Silver/Blue guts sounds cool. Nice options too.

As for the original owner/original battery thing.............. it ain't ALL that uncommon!

Yes,gas tank traps that break is not a good thing. How does the car look underneath over all???? I wouldn't pay more than 20k for it only because of it's cost to restore.

I guess that battery should be sitting in the car with the positive side at the fender. I would like to see that.

The underneath of the car doesn't look too bad at all. He parked it with a full tank of fuel. The gas in it is for sale.
"Hi test fuel for sale. Aged in tank for 32 years. Almost good enough to drink"
