More breaking news- Les has determined that he did indeed eat corn a few days ago and this explains the presence of corn kernels during todays stool checking procedure. Date codes of said kernels will be forthcoming to confirm if they are NOS or in fact assembly line correct original corn kernels. This coupled with the carbon dating and forensics report from the lab will prove within 99.998% the exact origin of said corn. While not fully conclusive, Les has resolved to live with the uncertanty of this forthcoming vauge 99.998% affirmation that he indeed was the person who consumed the corn at the Las Vegas county fair last Friday night that is supposedly the same corn that recently passed through his system.

The original owner of the corn, farmer Robert O. MacDonald, could not be reached for comment or to provide period photographs of this years bumper crop of delicious corn.

Colin,

Is farmer Robert O. MacDonald also known as "Old Mac Donald"? If so, I MAY have a picture of him growing the corn that Les ate at the fair!

I appraised the car when Jim had it and it did come from Jerry B with what were said to be the original tires, and those tires are some vintage Goodyear Wide Tread GT, size F 70-15. Even if the date codes come up right, I would wonder if they weren't dealer swapped from a Yenko Chevelle or something. Check the dates on the wheels, compare them to the car and the tires. We've all come across wheel swaps done at the dealer for buyer's request or to replace stolen ones.

There wouldn't be any reason for a Camaro plant to have that size tire in stock (Although I guess you could argue the same about the L-72 engines and BE rears..)

Its a bit troubling to hear about the misplaced tires (glad they're found). PLEASE tell me it still has all of that cool documentation Jerry dug up and Jim preserved.

(Hopefully Dave C. is using this treasure hunting opportunity to fill the trunks of the auction cars with all of the "stuff" he has for them.)

Good luck on your fact-finding mission, Les.

TOM

Correction, the tires that the original owner left the dealership on in June of 1969 say "Goodyear wide tread GT" and have NO size on them so they would be correct for the car in 1969 at least according to the Mustang guys.

This I believe. Goodyear Wide Treads are not polyglas tires. BTW, the original size on a Camaro would have been E70-15, not F70-15. A Yenko Chevelle would have had F70-15 Wide Treads, so there IS the chance they could have been swapped from a Chevelle.

Based on photo's I just received as well as recent conversations the original owner left the dealership with Goodyear wide tread GTs which were swapped from another Yenko and quite possibly a Chevelle? The original owner only recalls tires coming from another Yenko not whether it was a Camaro or Chevelle? I don't know the size or date code off the tires yet or whether they are polyglass or not?

Dave just found the tires last night almost immediately after he first learned he had them. He wasn't told until last night the extra wheels and tires that came with the car when he bought it were the originals from new. I will go pick them up as soon as possible. Dave also has the remainder of the paperwork with the car. The paper work accumulated over the years with this car is voluminous and was in two different locations when I went to pick up the car so I didn't get them at that time. So everything will be reunited with the car shortly.

Dave was at all times very respectful of the cars history and worked like a dog to keep track of everything and it was very important to him to ensure everything went along with the car. He approaches the ownership of his muscle cars like he is a curator of A museum and is very mindful of their historical significance. Classy guy and I would buy another car from him in a second and hope to own some more of his Chevy's after the May auction in Indy. He didn't know he had the original tires when he sold me the car and he could have asked me to pay for them now but instead just wants me to have them so they are with the car. VERY CLASSY WAY TO TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS.
