Well I think I found a car. As I said before I will start looking for one kind of car and end up with something else. I ended up with a L/78 El Camino. I saw this car 25 years ago 250 miles away from where I live now. It ran out of gas in front of my house and I helped the kid get it started. The old man that he bought it from said it had a special motor and the kid thought the seller was just making up a story. I pointed out to him the differences the L/78 had when compared to a regular 396. The kid drove the car another 10 years with a small block in it then he put in storage. This week end I called on an ad on the Internet and it's the same guy, we both remember the conversation 25 years later. The car is all apart and needs to be restored but its all there. I did not want another project but how could I pass on finding the same car 25 years later. I will get more details and pictures out when the car gets home later this week. Thanks to everybody for all your help with cars for sale and leads.

The moment I get the car home I will get pictures posted. I do not want to jinx it by saying too much but it is almost a twin to the el camino that Colin had for sale a few months ago. The car is numbers matching from the carb down with a build sheet. I just wish it was a little less of a project but the last 25 years were just as hard on me.

Congrats Mark. She sounds like a beaut. Have a blast with this project. Your story makes it all the sweeter. Looks like she finally found her TRUE home. Didn't you get the hint 25 years ago?

At 23 years old I did not get a lot of hints back then. This Karma thing is just weird some times. Of all the things I have forgotten over the years I still remember this car like it was yesterday.
