[ QUOTE ]
The '71 Corvette offered the LS6 option, there were 188 built and they included aluminum heads. Complete different option than the LS6 Chevelle option from 1970. More than a bit confusing.

[/ QUOTE ]

Were all the `71 LS6 Vette's aluminum headed? I thought there were 188 iron headed ones and then about 12 aluminum headed ones for a total of about 200.

-------No, Rick,,,All 188 of them had aluminum heads. There were a few automatics as well as M21s and M22s. As well, there were a few ZR2s which had even more similarities to an L88. If you wanted the baddest 71 Corvette you could get, you ordered LS6 and ZR2 along with a few other HD options. I think you had to order them both, but Warren would know for sure!!! The silver LS6 I owned while I lived in Chicago had 355s and was good for 160mph easily. What a top end machine that was.........Bill S

Bill, that car may be here in Austin now. It is an original car (not restored). If it's the same one, it was owned by Richard Tisdale of the 50 fastest collection fame. Now owned by Pat Sullivan.

------Tim,,,The last I heard Warren knew that my old car was in California for sale by "Corvette Lady" I think??? It was an M21, Nevada silver/black vinyl T-top with 3:55s as stated. A wonderful time capsule when I had it as virtually nothing had been changed except for smog removal. Long time owner No. 2 before me (B. Hildebrandt) brought the car out of Atlanta area to Chicago. Owner after me replaced smog and put correct original tires on. Car at that time had, I think, low 30s mileage. I even know who ordered the car new but couldnt afford to buy it when it came in new to the dealer.........Bill S

Bill, I believe it's the same car. It was at the Waco Regional the past two years. He purchased it and a blue automatic LS6 as a pair. Certainly a wonderful car.

I believe that one belongs to a guy who hangs out on the board here, Harold Metz? Maybe that is why my 71' LS6 only went to 95-100K at Carlisle Saturday. From what I've been told, it's one heck of a car.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, Steve that is my car and it is a great car. I thought I would keep this car forever but, I put money down on mobile home park that is going to make alot of money from day 1. So, with my holding a clear title, in my name on this car I just figured this would be the way to go.
I think your car would have done better at Carlisle if there was a larger group of "good" cars that would have drawn the heavy hitters to the auction. The people that I spoke to, felt there was nothing there and spent the afternoon near the coolers.I think you would do better at St. Charles where there is a draw.
Warren must have taken the long way home or he would be educating us on the LS6 questions. The last I spoke to him there were 74 of the original 188 cars accounted for.

Harold, I spoke with Warren at Carlisle while we waited for my car to run through the tent. The total # of located LS6 cars, after the weekend, has now grown to 86 or so, I think a couple of them were verified as destroyed though.
