I looked at that car back in the late 90's. It was in Lake Geneva WI. I believe it was that car or number 17. I was told by the owner that OJ Simpson was the celebrity that rode in it. No kidding

It was advertised in Hemmings for $18K.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'll bet the price has been slashed since then.

I am going to do a title search to find the previous owners. and hopefully that will shed some light on who may have bean in it, I was hopeing for someone other than OJ although he is very well known these days. I will check for a bloody glove. the car is still in great shape 79.000 miles all #s match, didnt these cars have handles in placed of the sun visor on the right or in the rear? also where could a guy get a pair of the replacement gold decals the festival cars had? thanks guys

Here's a photo of the J boys at the 1969 event. Note the badge on OJ's jacket. FYI only the actual pace cars had the grab bars. This car would be considered one of the festival cars and all were identical builds.

NJSTEVE...

What is THAT decal on the right rear 1/4's of the cars behind the front 3?
I am guessing that it is a Festival insignia?
I had seen this image before, interstingly I guess this photo gets around...

I am thinking of selling this car just wondering what members opinions on the value of a festival car compared to a standard pace car? any input would be great, Rich

The gold decal is from the Indy 500 festival Parade. A good picture of one can been seen at this link . Also the link of know festival cars off this page will open much faster then the Bitmap one mentioned in a previous post.

Was anyone else wondering if OJ was wearing gloves in that pic or on the drive?

I'm guessing that the auctioned pace car could be proven a fake given 'new' DNA testing.

Where and who owns the #17 car now? I spoke with Rich when he placed it on Ebay this past winter and missed out on the car. I have a REAL 71 Cuda Convert that I offered to swap Rich (a Mopar Guy) for his car. He definitely had strong interest, but The Jerk that has my Cuda never sent me updated pics (out of state) and drug his feet on the resto repairs and screwed me out of the swap/sale. Rich told the guy that bought it lives in to Indiana. Its not a great car, but I've been eyeing this car for 12 yrs now. I still have the video tape of the car when it was offered to me back in 95 for 16,500. I'm never at the right place at the right time any and all help would greatly be appreciated. Oh, btw, the Cuda is further along and getting a new cloth top on it any day now. 50 bills takes the car. Rock Solid Rust free car with history from England
