Even if it is a copy, every example of a buildsheet from either a Chevelle or GTO from that plant in 1969 is sliced into a small section of only the left side remaining.

I sent the owner an email earlier today for a shot of the eng. stamp pad and asked if he had original BS's (not photo copies). Here is the reply: "Sam, I tried to get a camera to take a picture of the engine pad but it will not get a clear picture as the alternator and wiring are in the way i would have to disassemble those things and this car is too nice to take apart. The engine pad has been verified and checked for authenticity and the VIN# and all is correct.The original owner is still alive along with the owner who restored the car and all the information goes to the new owner. I recently had a "G" 69 'velle and it too had the sliced BS (2 of them) with only the left one third remaining. Though, it may be too strong of a statement to say that ALL of them are that way. It may have been a practice of one shift or one line worker. COPO Anders had a "G" factory '71 Lemans this way too ( Anders '71 Lemans ). As far as no "spring marks" and too nice of a condition, there are other places that BSs can be hidden/preserved on cars that will leave a BS after 30+ years in this condition. Atlanta LS6s were notorious for being pasted to the inside door panel, passenger side and could look outstanding in condition. The owner finally responded Saturday a.m., to my BS portion of my question (do you have original build sheets instead of the photocopy shown?) with this: "Hi Sam Yes I do I have 2 of them. There can be up to 4 in a car. The guy that restored found 2 and I have both of them. Thanks Bill" The owner has not addressed the many discrepancies betw his description and the BS, although I asked him no questions about this. I chalk it up to an uneducated/hurried salesman. I do not see any problems with the BS as far as fonts, markings, codes, etc. - be advised, I am no expert. I wld like to get Rick (MR70) or some other folks to take a peek at it. I will try to draw his attention to it. Don't forget the other stuff that has to be investigated, like condition of frame, body panels, trunk, etc. This appears to have spent its life in and around the rust belt. <font color="purple">HEY RICK! </font> - you got your ears on? ![]() |

Our SS396 had the PW7 F-70x14 Whitewall tire option. Until we bought this car, I always took it for granted that SS396 cars came with white lettered tires. Wrong.

Well Keith, I believe the white lettered were standard on the 69 Chevelle SS, with white stripe and red stripe as options.

That could be a copy of the build sheet, but fonts, etc. look legit to me.
As far as OEM tires on the 69 SS Chevelles, I believe you had your choice of red stripe, white stripe, or white lettered...any of them were considered "standard equipment" but either the dealer or the buyer had to specify which they wanted when the car was ordered.
