My following comment regards internet sales in general and NOT this 70 Z-28 in particular.......

Very few people know how, or care to market cars with FULL disclosure facts and pictures on the internet.....so then ineviditably the ad/posting turns into a jousting event with one party or another "attacking" or defending........
I'm sure in most cases its not intentional, but people using this NEW medium called the internet to market expensive products, just are being unreasonable with there LACK of DETAILS, PICTURES and just plain ole honesty...what a concept.....

Wow! Talk about a highjack - advertise that you know of a car for sale, give people the contact info so they can find out for themselves what the car is all about and people somehow think I should disclose a cars full history in an ad.

In any event, this is an interesting conversation so I might as well put my 2 cents in. I have to disagree with anyone who believes that just because you are using "the internet" as your medium of choice to advertise something for sale that full disclosure should be made at that point. Just because someone posts a small ad does not mean that they are hiding anything whatsoever.

The point Chuck has made above has merit when someone is expected to make a commitment online. Full disclosure should be made because you are legally buying the product at that point. Ebay, Rick's 1st gen and other online stores are an example of that.

This is just an ad that may or may not interest someone. Surely people will take the initiative and pick up the phone if they are seriously interested in something? Don't people think that contacting someone personally is the only way to really find out about the item which is for sale?

Let's take my first post in this thread as an example - If I took it word for word and posted the ad in The Chicago Sun Times, nobody here would take issue. My conclusion is that people are either paranoid or just plain lazy.

No offence taken guys because I understand we are just talking opinions and just so everyone is on the same page as to where I am coming from -

"The opinions expressed by this poster are just that and readers are free to come to their own conclusions when dealing with any matters that involve or concern this poster"

You know Bob, I have never responded to everything you post but having read most of everything you have posted in the last few years, you and I have rarely ever disagreed.

You should read the post on the 396 car I have for sale here. I state in the ad that the car has no docs so could be a clone and that the car has had a full frame resto and some guy twists those 2 sentences to insinuate that I am somehow misleading people. Incredible!

Gotcha...my point was most people are now paranoid and lazy...still have to talk to the people selling the car...can't get every ounce of info in an ad

I agree Bob, you really need to listen carefully to people when you ask the questions and more importantly get to the seller like you said

Exactly Mike! I am amazed at how many people will buy a car online without actually talking to the owner, let alone seeing the car in person!

[/ QUOTE ]Hylton, I think you have read to much into my response regarding your 396 car. I never insinuated that you are misleading people. Cars with out docs trade hands all the time, no problem. But I feel if a car has just had a frame off resto the owner/seller should know if there car is a clone or not.
