I have a LA built 70 Z28, Citrus Green, and noticed that the underneath has been undercoated. There is no red oxide primer as in the Norwood cars but a dark green primer color of sorts. This same color was painted inside the car sheetmetal as well. What would be the correct color for resto on an LA car? What was their normal practice for painting the undercarriage? Thanks,
Paul

The 2nd Gen L.A. Camaros were primered in a shade of BLACK.
I doubt if anybody could explain why your car has DARK GREEN on it ?????. Could you explain where your underbody is undercoated and/or to what extent. At Camaros at Carlisle 2005 the judges had a involved discussion about 1970 Camaros receiving NO factory undercoating other than the rear wheelhouse area and some of the trunk extension.. I'll try and show pics of my own L.A. 70' Camaro Survivor Chuck Sharin ![]() ![]() ![]()

I cant think of another person that has been more involved with restoring misc Camaros than BKH and the SCW. CLS [/ QUOTE ] I can, Bob Harris and Camaro Specialties. Over 20 years and counting. PPG and Sherwin-Williams automotive finishes. I myself like PPG. Rick H. |

I was just watching Dream Car Garage and Peter Klute mentioned that BASF (Glasurit) has all of the big three's paint codes converted to base coat / clear and the formulas are available on CD.
I have used Glasurit before and it is great to work with and is very durable. |

The underneath may be a shade of black. I will remove some of the undercoating and check. Under the carpet is definitely a green color, darker than the Citrus green exterior. I will post some pics tomorrow.
