If it's authentic,as well as an "8B" after the number 1,it is definitely for a 1968 application-Chevelle-Elcamino.
A few 1968 L89's Chevelle-Elcos have beeen found..a say FEW. The VIN# will reveal more... I sent you a PM. |

There is not a lot known about these 1968 L-89 cars, but I do not like what you have relayed so far.
To recap: *The #440 block is a LATE 1968(August)to EARLY 1969 production ONLY. *They ended 1968 Baltimore production in July,1968,& Started 1969 Production in September 1968 with unit #300001. *The casting date of G 11 8,July 11th,1968 makes sense. *The Tonawanda assembled date of T 08 24,August 24th,1968,makes sense. *The VIN# you supplied me with,is a mid May,1968 Baltimore,Chevelle-Elco VIN. This is the problem area,& NOT a 1969 VIN# either,it should not be before the other two mentioned dates. *I don't know where you are getting the Post Car possibility? |

The 18B partial VIN tells you it's a 68 model year and that would be at the end of the model run with that date. It would be a 68 dated block, not 69. Even if it was an early 69 engine it would be a 68 dated block. The rest of the partial VIN should tell you it's a very late 68 car unless somebody messed up stamping an early 69 car and put the "8" in instead of the "9". What's the 2 or 3 digits of the partial VIN?
