by a stroke of luck without paying lots of $$$ for it when i got my zl1. i didn't put it all back original (headers, traction bars, tach,) i pretty much left it the way i got it i did paint it back to the original color and it does look good with the orignal wheels and caps but i do have mags for it and it can be put back to its original self i don't race it unless someone pulls up next to me wanting to [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] its hard to not punch it out and what a ride too maybe someday i'll sell it if my son is not intersted in it but till then Im gonna drive and show it [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif[/img] i've heard guys in the back ground saying i wouldn't rev that car up like that and i say whats the fun in it if i wanted art i'd paint a picture and hang it on the wall [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif[/img]

I don't think you guys are crazy at all for racing those cars, isn't that what they are supposed to do! I was at Randy Millers garage one time and I asked him how he could just let all that stuff sit there, I told I would drive myself crazy just trying to figure out which car to burn the road up with that day, he just laughed, there would be no way I could let those cars just sit! Long time viewer fist time posting. I feel that a person that spends there hard earned money on a car has the wright to treat it as they wish. If a person is searching for that low E.T. or if the car is simply not driven I respect both, after all it is up to the individual on how they get injoyment from there car... With that said, seeing a car that maybe someone else would love to own decay in to the earth is kinda hard on the soul. We have all seen it.... You would have to sell 3 or 4 ZL-1's to get a beach house on this Island right now...wow the prices have skyrocketed worse than a Yenko....Good for me though, Im selling some property I have here and it will give me the green backs to buy a couple Yenko's to tow around the ZL-1's I can now afford [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif[/img]

When I met you and saw your Yenko at Stanton last summer my first impression was of a truly nice restored Yenko example. When you launched at the lights(which I took a photo), thats when I truly apprieciated your car for what it was meant to be, and also felt respect for it's owner for keeping it free to carry on the heritage that Don envisioned for your car to begin with. If the car could talk we all know what it would choose if the choice was provided to either sit indoors to be enjoyed from a visual sense, or launched at the lights to excite all the senses, not only for the owner, but also for the many people who may never be fortunate enough to own one. For those multitudes of the general population, they live the Supercar dream because of the opportunity to see these cars in action, which is only possible from those owners willing to display these cars as they should be, ripping up the blacktop. Watching a Supercar as yours at the drags is the ultimate tribute to Don Yenko, one more piece in the puzzle of keeping his vision alive. Cheers to the owners who allow these cars the opportunity to spend some time in the environment they were raised in. As well as constant care, I feel there is a responsibility to keep the history alive....11 seconds at a time. Just my opinion.
