I am not a "Big Boy" but I would not call a Yenko a Yenko without paper back to Canonsburg. If Yenko gave him the green light to clone his own cars, I still would not consider it real. Would you consider a Yenko just a COPO Camaro? It is in a sense, but is a Yenko Sports Car from the start.

The Yenko Chevelle had its original SS wheels on at the show. It is a 4 speed car. It had an aluminum head 427 race motor in the car with all the usual speed parts, but the original 427 is still on a stand. It was very nice to see an originl paint Yenko Chevelle. Is there any other original paint survivors out there?

Jeff, I hope you can confirm with Rob that you will bring your super orange COPO Chevelle to the meet. An auto on the tree is cool to see...BKH

This Jack Douglas Chev thing really got me thinking. I agree with Brian 100%. If I got a set of stripes or a dealer did and put them on my white COPO it would not be a Yenko!
And just then it hit me. If the guy with the "Yenko" in that Chevy Rumble mag(the white one). If he is not full of $hit and really the car did come that way...is it possible that this is a Jack Douglas car????!

The Chevy Rumble car seems to be a clone. Way to start out a new magazine Little Buckeroo. Look at the staff, old Super Chevy guys. No wonder there is no research done. Just grab an old article from another magazine and shove it down our throats as facts. MMM, BS sure tastes good!...BKH

The article on the COPO Chevelles in May 2001 Car Collector magazine was written by Mike Mueller. He regurgitated that article from a Chevelle book he wrote in 1993. Same car same pictures same mistakes.

I saw an orange COPO Chevelle in Ohio, a couple of years ago....Didn't check it for authenticity, just took the guy's word. (he wasn't selling, just talking) It was unrestored, un-repainted, Bench seat, column shift auto. Guy said he found the motor, and then located/purchased the car, and reunited them.

I just missed a double COPO (auto with console and tach only) that came out of Jack Douglas. No evidence of it being marked as a Yenko, but obviously he knew about both COPO's.
I heard that JD got permission from Yenko to market the cars, esp since he bought the stripes and decals from Yenko. Notice that JD only sold one Yenko PA Camaro in 69.
Since they had approval from Yenko, I'm not sure what that makes the cars........

OK...dad and I were talking about the BY Chevelle mentioned above. Weren't the COPO Chevelles pretty much SS Chevelles minus stripes? Did the SS wheels come on the Chevelle via GM, or via Yenko? Also, did it have the usual Malibu emblems, steering wheel, etc. all around? Or SS?

Now, with that said, here are some links to some pictures someone from CB posted over at TC.
