Thanks guys, was using Colvin's book as well and was unaware of the misprint. Ed Cunneen's COPO Connection book shows 9562BA for an auto COPO Chevelle, but perhaps it is a misprint as well. this is from a Chevrolet memo date 8/2/69

A69COPO2 - Are you saying you have 56 COPO Chevelle build sheets? Are any of them Yenko Chevelles? I have a few build sheets for Yenko Chevelles and they have the both the 9562 and the 9737 number on them. They are not early cars. (June/July) I have some for COPO Chevelles (non Yenko) and they have the 9566.
COPO - The COPO Connection book shows 9562BA as a TH400 car and is not a misprint. The 9562BA, 9562DD, 9562DE, 9562FA, and 9566 BA are all TH400 cars according to the Chevy letter on page III-13 in Ed's book. They have different combinations of springs, seats, and tires, but are all auto trans. |

Joe, the sheets I have for Yenko Chevelles do have the 9562 and 9737, along with the correct alpha code after these numbers. None of them have the 9566. Some of these sheets also list other numbers ie 9694, 9562(none of mine have the XX sorry A69COPO). Back to the MP, MQ question Ed has it correct in his book page 78. I am not a NOVA guy but I think Ed has the CTB and the CTC mixed up in his book same page 78.

James, I have the Jan '98 7th edition of Ed's book and the Nova codes on page 78 are correct. CTB w/4 speed, CTC w/auto. These are the same for the '70 Camaro Z-28 which was my first car I bought 20 years ago.

James - There is no XX on the sheets. I did not mean that the "XX" is on the build sheet. I just put the XX in my post to show that there should be two letters there. From what I read the two letters were ECL codes (Exception Control Letter). GM used the letter change to show a variation or update was made to an option number. Instead of changing the numbers to show a change they would start out with an "AA" and bump up the letters for each change even if it was just a price increase. The letters probably have additional meanings. We use a three letter system where I work to show engineering changes or software changes. In our system one of the three letters is bumped up according to the type of change that was made. This is why the ECLs would jump from AA-BA then CD-CE. The ECLs are also used on RPOs. They are on many GM documents such as window stickers ,shipping documents, broadcast sheets, etc. Engineering needs to document any changes to aid product assembly and field service.

jAMES, IF YOU have the build sheets, with 9562XX, and the different codes, then we need to talk. I've been researching these,(some one needs to,LOL)and I'm really trying to help, in this phase of Car. Not that I don't like the other's, just know one really putting a leg out, that I know of. But then again, I'm new to this sight, and love it, it's great, alot of info, which needs to be shared. I think there shouldn't be anything uncovered. That's what makes this hobby so good. Ed Cunning can't do it all, couldn't see how. The ZL1 research is great, but very little on the chevelle area. So, if any one wants to help, just might be able to shed the light for others. What do you think? Thanks, Mike

I think I have broken the codes. Ok, follow me now. After reveiwing all my build sheets, I've concluded that the 9562??, must have been for the Yenkos, because none of my COPO build sheets have it, they're all 9566??, make sence? As for the F CARROLL, never seen that before, is there a dealer, by that name? The 6B1591, is the Specail order#, as referance to block#60. ..Even with block#7 missing, look at block#28, "HF CX", all you have to do, is look real close. MIKE

The build sheet on Team Chevelle looks like the COPO sheets that I have. The difference on a Yenko Chevelle sheet is where the Team Chevelle one has " 9566BA" A Yenko sheet has 9562xx 9694xx 9737xx. Some also have 1001HA which I believe is for special paint. The odd thing about the Team Chevelle build sheet is the "F CARROLL". Is this a person's name or is this F CAR ROLL ? Never saw that on a build sheet before.
