Are All NOS Parts Created Equal?

Guy that painted my Z said he had tried to use several nos trunk lids and they would be twisted and all kinds of problems. He thought they were parts that the line couldnt get to fit then sold later as replacements! I have a buddy that restored a 72 chevy c10 and he would buy the cheapest parts he could and ended up returning most of them. Theres a chrome piece that goes around the roof material inside the cab and we fought that thing and finally he sent it back. the angles on the corners were no where near the right 90 degrees they should have been. There is no reason stuff like that cant be made right.
