I do close to what Rick does. Fine glass, reduced pressure. But I use 0000 steel wool and WD40, then a hot bath in soap and water. No complaints so far. Maybe next one I will try gray scotch bright Rick, thanks I don't like overpaying for some services out there

Another tip before media blasting your intake (or any other aluminum components)...make DAMN sure it's 100% clean of any organic contaminants before blasting.

Media blasting a part with any remaining schmutz left on it will actually embed said schmutz into the pores of the metal, and no amount of blasting will make it look right. (When the light hits it right you'll see "shadows" in the surface)

For the most part I use a home brewed (read: "proprietary&quot cleaning process, but any variety of mag wheel cleaners and even good old-fashioned Pine-Sol works great on cleaning aluminum.

How's this for NOS ?
This is my original 472 Natural Skin just chemically and manually cleaned.
I've never seen a bead or walnut blasted Intake that looked anything like an Assembly line or NOS manifold. Reskinning is a common practice.....but why not clean one before ruining the natural skin ?
