Agree Steve. Also i agree with the poster on the oil pan. I dont believe Chevy used a truck oil pan on the 72- Nova SS engine.

I know the HP was down and that it didn't get the bolt on windage tray. But, are you certain SS Nova with a 350 DID NOT get an 8 inch balancer? That would surprise me very much. Doesn't matter to me, as I have one each of the timing tabs, and will provide whichever Dan needs. Just want to make sure he gets the right parts. Both are shown in the pic below.

Concerning the 2 baffles: I think you are confusing the large capacity truck pan with the pickup truck pan. Pickups (and G10 vans) just got the regular baffled oil pan, same as the cars. Check out the pic. You can see the double baffle on the large capacity pan on the left. . The one on the right is the same as the cars.

If I am wrong, someone show me.

In 72 only the L82 got the 8" balancer. Corvette and Z28. The pan on the right in your pic. is correct but w/o a bolt on windage tray for your Nova.

You're right. Some truck pans were used in passenger cars.
Not a large capacity truck, and although not for a '72 application, the #3830089 pan was used in both the 1964-67 Chevelle w/283 & 327cid.,and also shared in the 1965-69 series 10 thru 30 truck and G-10 & G-20 series truck with small block engines and did have 2 baffles in it.
