----I am pretty good friends with Bob Riggle and I know NO ONE more careful. I have worked his pit on occasion and he definetly checks everything more than twice before going out. Im just guessing that Jays people wanted the film clip and needed to do it there. The place was full of bumps in the blacktop that Bob wasnt aware of, maybe because of time constraints, and it bit him. I was so sorry to see this happen as Bob is one of the best guys around period!.......Bill S

Looks like it was a mistake by the driver. Too fast and cranked the wheel to turn.

They were saying that after the wheelie he did not have enough room to slow it down. He was still moving pretty fast when he made that turn. Also he was getting ready to hit that banked section of the track. Made for good footage though ... too bad the car had to suffer

Right on both counts.
He should've never done a wheel stand in that short, partitioned & banked area. Not enough room and too many obstacles. And Jay looks like a caricature of himself when he's wearing a safety helmut. |

When the car comes down from the wheelie, he was really close to taking out one of the barriers.

He was doing with it what the car was built for. Location and barriers aside, the car was built to show off. He didn't do anything to the car that can't be fixed with a good old fashioned post puller frame machine and an operator that knows how to use it. Once the structure is pulled back into place, you'll be suprised how close the sheetmetal will be to where it is supposed to be. After that, replaceing the skins, well such is life. I'm glad they are OK.
