Love, love seeing the car driven in the snow like it was back then. I believe those traction bars are a tell tale sign that car came from Harrell's Shop. I believe his original ZL-1 car had those on early in its career. They just look familiar. With those pictures and those mods to the car, I would say you are really on to something!

Well I'm glad you all liked the pictures. I'm still hopeful that I'll have more sent to me. Hopefully it won't take as long as it took me to get these.
I couldn't believe that he drove it in the snow. Apparently it was a very tough car. With the 4.56 gears and all the power it had I imagine it would have been a real handful. I've asked if he can remember anything else about the car, or any stories from when he had it. If he does I'll pass them on. I'm hopeful someone out there still has it and these pics can be of some use to them. At the very least it's cool to see some pics of one from back in the day in its every day setting. You know he didn't even know that the car was anything special until I told him. He hasn't been into cars since the 80's and doesn't even own one now. He had absolutely no idea what these cars could be worth these days! |

Great pics and history. Very Kool Camaro.
Were the 1/4 gills added or did it come that way? |

I asked him about the 1/4 gills and he said that he's pretty sure that they come on the car as he can't remember adding them.

I was always curious when the switch from the trophy style Built by Dick Harrell plaques to the metal medallion was made. My best guess is @ May of 1969. The January 69' SS 427 transplant cars used the plaques, and the June COPO DH cars used the medallions....BKH

Awesome pics. Surprised there are not some studded snow tires on the car in those pics with the snow on the ground.
They produced quite a show at night out on the highway... |
