Default Re: Did anyone use a X-ram 302 at the strip ??

Hey Matt,

I'm at this point planning for the future.

What I am doing is trying to plan to change my car from original to a day two 'street-strip version' and then a 'T/A version' ...just to change it from every other original car.(remember the roll bar I bought from you.. )
I have most everything except an offroad cam...I have a real early protype xram with 69 4295 carbs, a 67 TI ignition and Stalh headers at this point...I probably need to upgrade the cam at some point... ??

I enjoy more building and driving my cars and am not really worried about racing as much as enjoying so I dont want to go too radical(yet) and lose too much drivability. I will probably run it down the strip a few times just to see

I wanted to see if it was even an option that was used on an old strip car back in the day... anyone got any pics??

Im always up for suggestions and ideas..Im sure I will have a million questions real soon....

...and as always I am grateful !!

Thanks All and SYC

thanks SYC
Max

Make sure you run the right additives in you oil or find oil with zinc in it. Or your cam will not last long.

GM asked Edelbrock to see if they could help-out the X-ram. Edelbrock did and came out with its own X-ram caller STR-10. Edelbrock put the STR-10 into production{TO fit many cars}.

The 1968 Z that GM prepped for the Car & Driver comparison test against the soon to be non existent tunnel port 302 mustang had the over the counter cross ram and headers through the mufflers. Was also equipped with power steering. Reportedly had heavy duty valve springs installed, but no cam change.

Ran 13.77 with the 4.10 screw (over the counter rear disc rear) on the E70 bias ply tires.

Someone should find that car, and the tunnel port mustang as well.
