Just for clarification - are you indicating that the block above is an original "born with" block? When I was at Tonawanda, we produced the cores for the ZL1 blocks in house and shipped them to the aluminum casting facility. It wasn't a difficult task to find a gravity pour, sand cast facility that could pour the castings. The problem was that only the biggest automotive foundries had the Osborne Machines that the water jacket cores were made on. Special sand magazines, ejector systems, unloading fixtures - these expensive equipment investments could not be justified for small production runs. Front & rear housings, along with barrel and fuel pump cores were made in oil sand. So, we made the cores and shipped them out to the aluminum foundry. that "YENKO" feature was added by hand. maching was done on a single CNC machine at the Tonawanda Motor Plant. No broaching.

Bruce, If you are asking about my car. It is a 69 Camaro Yenko clone built around the Yenko motor. Neat car that I bought like this but it is not real.

Yes, this ad is filled with misinformation. Yenko did not begin having blocks cast until 1976 and continued thru 1984. I am doing final editing on my new book " The Yenko Era....Continued. Canonsburg and Beyond " which will contain detailed history and records of " Special Engines " as Don referred to them. It will also cover history and dates of Yenko emblems. Should be ready soon ! It almost looks like they milled the water pump mounting face and took the O off in the process. Roger

Mark, Do you know how many Yenko blocks were made and is there a break down of how many were tall deck and regular height blocks?

My records indicate 650-700 total blocks cast. Standard deck height, tall deck....also solid blocks for drag racers...
