Boy. When Carlisle Events parted ways with Rick Markko, I knew things would change but didn't expect them to get quite this bad. I think I remember being told in the Fall by a Carlisle person that the new guy handling our event wasn't a car guy (I may be wrong here). Maybe they decided they need to share the building with the BPO guys? The web site is already listing Buick Turbo cars as the replacement for us, so it sounds like it was a fait accompli when Brian got the call.
Certainly not the kind of thing I want to go see and I was in my late teens/early 20s when that stuff came out. I hope they get a few hundred GNs and Regal Ts for the show's sake given the poor attendance at last year's event. I might go for the Saturday am swap and some dirty chicken. Might.

First off, Brian didn't get the call, I called Carlisle like I do every January to catch up, and set things up for the SLS. I must say I was blind sided by what I was told. Four years of making the SLS one of the largest gathering of IMO significant cars in the east coast placed in a very comfortable setting of the old time dealership was fantastic. And I want to thank each and everyone who attended with cars, memorabilia, and those who volunteered your time to make the show what it is. The show was like a huge extended family. It is a welcome atmosphere without ropes or boundaries so the cars can be enjoyed up close and personal.
After my conversation with Carlisle, I went to the Carlisle website and I found out that the SLS was not even listed as a feature anymore. The SLS was tossed out without anyone calling me. Thats fine, it's there show and we are just a small part of it. If the SLS is revisited for 2014 maybe I will find out, who knows. Once again thanks for all the support over the years, and for making the SLS what it was..BKH |

It sounds just like the situation that gave birth to the MCACN show. Now I guess it's time to make the SLS a stand alone show, or have it as part of MCACN this year. That would be pretty cool: to make one of the display halls into a vintage dealership.

What happened to Rick Markko? I thought he was a pretty good guy and an asset to Carlisle Productions.
