Has there been a comparision between the new Boss 302 and the GT500 on a road course yet? I know the boss is handicapped by 200+ HP but, I understand it is very capable on the race track.

I have seen a few and the gt500 is a tiny bit faster due to the sheer hp advantage but the Boss is way more of a road car and well balanced. Bolt on a blower (600 hp)on the boss and you have an unbeatable car

I think you are forgetting the ZO6 Vette
I have seen a few with a little tweaking pull over 750 hp at the rear wheels As a road car the boss 302 can not hold a candle next to the ZO6

I don't get what is all the fuss is about the GT 500 or the boss
THERE are better cars out there and I think GM will have something that will be a killer soon
Chrysler has something now BUT money problem has put away for now
With the oil pressure problem and the 2012s are now having a lot of transmission problems It seem that Ford is more interested with hyped up hp numbers than fix their problems. My last job of 18 years was dealing with Ford engineering dept I say thats about
normal for them. ITs all hype
Thats why I hate Fords with a passion

I can attest to Ford Corp being horrible to deal with, and offering NO customer support.

My 2008 Navigator with 66k miles is giving up the transmission right now and Ford Corp has been telling me to pound salt even though they've been aware of the tranny problems for 20k miles, bastages.

This may indeed be the LAST Ford I buy if they stick me with this problem...

I'm told the GT500 on a road course test lost over 2 seconds a lap once it got warmed up. They make big #'s for a little bit then the power falls off due to the heat.

Charley - I understand the increased lap time is due to brake fade.

Mark - recommend speaking to regional service manager. Call him or make an appointment when he swings thru your dealership. Lay your story out for him and bring your documentation. Good luck!

Here is the ultimate track/street/strip car. Blown Boss. Stock tires.. 124 mph in the quarter.. 7500 rpm redline, forged steel rods, forged pistons, 11:1 compression, 4 seats, good gas mileage. Better balanced then the brute GT500.

You might have the E4OD transmission and yes Ford does know about it but Fords engineering dept see no problem
I ran a very large Fleet for an express company and had a few E350 super duty trucks that had the E4OD tranny . they went out every 6 months and Ford told me it was driver abuse
well on one truck after the 16th tranny in 19 months I took maters in my own hands
This is what I found there is a check valve on the out going tranny coolant line that opens up at the temperature the engineers has set
What I did was to remove the check valve and tossed it so the fluid runs all the time the next thing I did was to stuff the biggest tranny cooler I could find
Now get this Fords engineering dept told me that will not work because the tranny will run to cold My answer to them was yea your way really works good
any way long story short that truck E4OD after 150,000 miles On THAT trans was still working great
there is so many more problems I had with them but the bottom line is just like the 302 oil pressure problems they just stick there heads in the sand and just refuse to find a fix
In the 18 years I had so many fights with Ford engineering that I always ended up finding the problem and fix it my self
THATS WHY I HATE FORDS

Whats really bad is that the last gen GT500 which you can get used with ultra low miles for around $35k is just as fast as the much fabled ZL1 is at the strip! OR a low mile almost new 011 for $45k and beat it!

The new Camaro's designers/engineers should have be fired. Its a shame too, cause Chevy had a clean slate with the Camaro design in 2010 and they flubbed it. It could have been something really spectacular
